Arborea + Guests @ Oliver Peel session # 17 Paris Feb 16th 2010

Arborea + Guests Dave Olliffe, Frederic D'Oberland & Sandra @
Oliver Peel session #17 Paris Feb 16th 2010

Very unusual day for an Oliver Peel session, we're in the middle of the week just a couple of days after Rivkah played the very same place.
At Oliver's we rock ( sorry... Folk ) not only on fridays or saturdays night.

First to play are Dave Olliffe & Frederic D' Oberland ( & Sandra on harmonium).
Laid back acoustic & Electric guitars and a bit of harmonium thrown in, "ambiance music" should we call it with a terrific sound.
Perfect for a movie soundtrack.

After a intermission with red & white wine + sandwiches & cakes( courtesy of our host Cécile Peel).
It's time for Arborea to grace the improvised stage @ Oliver's.
Different country , they're from Maine, USA and different music.
Much more roots, original American folk( protest) songs, the beginning is really quiet on acoustic guitar or banjo for this couple-duet then the electric guitar kicks in ( hope the neighbours won't complain ) for more "noisy"songs.
That was their last show on their European tour and they seemed to have enjoy their trip in France. We did too... great double act.

Videos to follow shortly...

Corinne Bayley Rae @ Fnac Forum Paris Feb 16th 2010

Corinne Bayley Rae @ Fnac Forum
Paris Feb 16th 2010
Corinne Bayley Rae is attracting many people for this showcase @ Fnac Forum, the place is packed and she came with her whole band and a full production, no acoustic.
Two guitar players , a keyboardist, bassist, drummer & Corinne on vocals.
It's a real gig and she has a record out today called "The sea"

She's an English singer and is playing a kind of easy listening Pop-Soul.
As you can see she's a beauty and has a nice voice but the music is a little bit too light for me.
Nevertheless the 50 min set was really enjoyable.
Too bad she played the whole set almost completely in the dark.

Aerosmith with Tyler confirmed for Download Fest in England

After all the shit that happened between Aerosmith & Steven Tyler these last few weeks, I'm quite surprise of the announcement of Aerosmith headlining the Download Fest this summer.

Some other shows will be confirmed soon ( Graspop in Belgium and a Show @Paris Bercy on June 29th ).

AEROSMITH with another singer could have been interesting & funny.

Other news:
  • Slash said that he will play many Guns N Roses songs on his solo tour this summer.
  • Them Crooked Vultures live @ "Austin City Limits" TV program on September 30, 2009. FULL LIVE SHOW HERE
  • A man suffers cardiac arrest at AC/DC last show in Melbourne Australia.
  • Hellfest in France is getting more hot names including Alice Cooper, Ratt & others TBC (KISS & Twisted sister are headlining )

Lee Fields & The Expressions @ L' Album de la Semaine Canal+ Paris Feb 15th 2010

Lee Fields @ Album de la semaine Canal+
Paris feb 15th 2010

Soul man Lee Fields & The Expressions is playing famous Canal+ TV show "L' Album de la Semaine".
7 musicians on stage and soul man Lee Fields , funny how the guy is looking like Mr James Brown even the voice sounds a bit like Mr Brown's.
The music is really soul ( 60's style ) à la Ottis Redding.
Lee doesn't dance like Mr Brown but he has the voice .

RIP Bertrand who was doing cartoons of all the artists playing @ "L' Album de la semaine ".
He will be missed.
See many of his cartoons HERE.
